Getting Started with Hosting Websites on FibaCloud

This guide connects the server, access, file-transfer and DNS steps for a self-managed website. You are responsible for installing and configuring your web server or application, keeping it updated, and arranging backups.

Before You Start

Identify your application's operating system and resource requirements. Review Instance plans and regional availability, and make sure you can manage DNS for the domain you intend to use.

Create and Access Your Server

Create an Instance

Choose the image, plan and authentication method for your website server.

Connect with SSH

Connect from your computer using OpenSSH or PuTTY.

Transfer Application Files

Use FileZilla with SFTP to transfer files between your computer and the server.

Install and configure your application according to its own documentation. Confirm that it works on the server before changing the domain's DNS records.

Review the DNS quickstart before moving an existing domain to FibaCloud name servers.

Create DNS Records

Configure the records needed to point your domain to the website.

If the domain is already in use, recreate its required records before changing its name servers. Existing DNS caches can continue using the previous records until their TTL expires.

Verify Your Website

Check that the intended hostname resolves to the right server, that the application answers for that hostname, and that its HTTPS certificate covers the names visitors will use. Keep a recovery copy of the application and its data before making further changes.
